Sugar Cookies

I'm not kidding when I say these cookies are amazing!  I got the recipe from my mentor teacher and plan on always using this as my "go to sugar cookie" recipe. :)

Sugar Cookies
3 ¾ c. flour
1 ½ t. baking powder
1 t. salt
1 c. butter (or margarine)
1 ½ c. sugar
2 t. vanilla
2 eggs

Preheat oven to 375. Sift dry ingredients together; set aside.  Cream butter, sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy.  Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.  Slowly mix in dry ingredients until just blended.  Roll dough to 1/8” to 3/8” thick.  You may have to add a little extra flour.  Try to handle as little as possible.  Use adorable shapes (or a cup) and cut.  Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes.  Cool cookies before frosting.  (I like cookies softer and normally was cooking them about 8 minutes for a medium/ slightly large sized heart cookie)

Frosting
~ ½ bag powdered sugar
~ ½ cube butter (margarine)--room temperature
1-2 t. vanilla (or combination of vanilla and almond)
~ ¼ canned (evaporated) milk
Food Coloring

(I know these measurements are terrible…  I just kept dumping things in until it was the right consistency! :) )  Beat the butter and small amount of powdered sugar on high until it starts to come together.  Add the flavoring, coloring, and a lot more powdered sugar.  Pour in a little milk at a time.  Beat on high until smooth and creamy.
Frost cookies.

Valentine's for our family, friends, neighbors, home & visiting teachers, etc!
This is a double batch of cookies. :)
For my sweetheart... it is a math joke--and the amount of love we have for each other! :)
This cookie cutter is HUGE!  I got if for Christmas and had to use it...
