Skills USA: 2nd Place!!

On Thursday and Friday, Casey had the opportunity to compete at the State Skills USA competition in web design.  Thursday morning, (some of you may already know this from facebook) I got up and made muffins at 5 am and then sent my darling husband on his way.  He had to (1) pick up his partner, (2) figure out where to park/ get a pass at SLCC Taylorsville campus, and (3) be ready for the competition to start at 7:30 am.  It was early but fortunately the commute wasn't too bad and they made it on time.  I was nervous the muffins wouldn't be finished by the time he had to leave, but it worked out and he was able to eat the muffins for breakfast and snacks throughout the day.

Thursday, he spent the entire day working to build a website with his partner.  They were given the topic and some pictures/ information and then all of the teams were instructed to build a website for "Thanksgiving Point Golf Club" around 7:30- 8 am. (I don't think their information/ golf club actually exists....)  They had to be completely finished with their website by 5 pm that night and were required to take a mandatory lunch break.  Casey says if he had more time, he would change some things and tweak some other things.  But considering the time rush, they just kind of had to go with it.
Casey's Website!
He is SO talented!!
After I finished subbing, I traveled up to SLC via bus.  (Oh man... that was interesting!!  But entirely a different story!)  We spent the night at my parents' home so we would not have to travel back and forth because Friday, Casey and his partner had to present their website to the judges in the morning and then go back for the award ceremony later that evening.

I went with to presenting the website to the judges but was not able to actually be in the room while the judging was taking place.  I was able to see the other contestant's website designs though and they were up against some tough competition.  Everyone worked so hard and they all looked amazing!

At the awards ceremony, Casey and his partner placed 2nd!  I was too busy trying to take pictures to cheer and scream.  So here it is...
GO CASEY!!!!
It was an exciting moment!  And Casey, was given some free software--it should be coming in the mail soon!  (It was supposed to go to 1st place, but one of the partner's already had it and didn't want it so Casey was super lucky!)
Standing on the awards podium.
Backstage... no idea if I was supposed to be there... likely not.
But I followed anyway.   :)
We were waiting to fill out some forms.
We were blessed to have both of our parents at the awards ceremony!
Congratulations on 2nd place sweetheart!  You truly are amazing and so very talented!! :)
